Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping arena

The ski jumping arena was built for the Winter Olympics in Lillehammer in 1994, and has become the iconic symbol of Lillehammer internationally. At a distance, you can see the magnificent hill naturally situated in the landscape.Approximately 80,000 jumps are made during the winter and about 20,000 during the summer. Hafjell alpine center

Hafjell is a ski resort which offers various skiing for the very beginner to the bravest ski or park enthusiast. The entire ski resort is facing the sun and has good snow conditions from mid November till mid April.

There is a Ski Bus directly from the hotel every morning to Hafjell! The bus is free if you buy a 5-day pass. Just 15 minutes by car from Birkebeineren Hotel & Apartments.

Kjelkekjøring i Kanthaugen Lillehammer

Loads of fun and snow in the Olympic Park! 

A tow-bar on the ski lift pulls you and the sled up the hill while you are sitting on the sled. Once at the top, a spectacular ride down a professionally prepped track awaits you. The sleds have brakes so you can regulate the speed yourself.

Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge track

At Hunderfossen you can ride a bobsleigh on a genuine Olympic ice-covered track. Bobrafting is a rubber raft that holds ut to 5 persons and can reach speeds up to 70-80 kph. Skiing trails of high standard start right behind the apartments. You can also take the bus up to Nordseter or Sjusjøen, and ski back down to the hotel. Ski rental is at Nordseter and Sjusjøen.

Maihaugen at Lillehammer is one of the largest and oldest open air museums in Europe. Maihaugen is a living museum offering cultural experiences and family activities.

Visit the home of Sigrid Undset! Sigrid Undset (1882-1949) is among Norway's most popular authors. She created a unique home consisting of two old wooden buildings which were moved from farms in the Gudbrandsdalen valley. Outside she built a beautiful garden, and she called her home Bjerkebæk.

Dog sledding

Dog Sledding at Sjusjøen - an exotic winter experience you will never forget.
