Once upon a time...   .....in a country far far away people lived their busy lives and had almost forgotten about the existence of trolls and other fairy tale creatures. But it was not lost... Guarded by a 14 meter high troll, and behind the gates of the 37 meter tall fairy tale castle the treasure of the Norwegian folk stories is kept safe in Hunderfossen Family park. Lilleputthammer is an adventure park for young and old, but where most of the activities are designed for children 1-7/8 years. Here you find a miniature copy of the famous main street - Storgata - in Lillehammer as it was back in the year 1930, built to a scale of 1:4.

Høydeparken i Hunderfossen Familiepark

High Ropes Course in Hunderfossen Familiy park. There are 4 different tracks: Green track, Blue track, Red track and the Black track. Starting at 2 meters height in the green track to 14 meters height in the black track this attraction is not for the faint-hearted. A real challenge! Min 7 years and 130 cm. NB: An extra ticket is required for this attraction.

Hjulbob i Lillehammer Olympiske Bob- og Akebane

You can ride a wheeled bobsleigh down the Lillehammer Olympic Bobsleigh and Luge Track at Hunderfossen during the summer. The bobsleigh seats 4 passengers in addition to the licensed pilot on each ride. The speed reaches 100 kph.

Maihaugen Omvisning i barnehøyde

Maihaugen at Lillehammer is one of the largest and oldest open air museums in Europe. Maihaugen is a living museum offering cultural experiences and family activities.

Maihaugen has more than 170 old timber buildings from the Gudbrandsdalen Valley and Lillehammer area on display. The museum also has indoor exhibitions where one presents Norwegian history and everyday life during important historical stages in the country's development. The museum is about a 10 minute walk from Birkebeineren Hotel & Apartments.

Visit the home of Sigrid Undset! Sigrid Undset (1882-1949) is among Norway's most popular authors. She created a unique home consisting of two old wooden buildings which were moved from farms in the Gudbrandsdalen valley. Outside she built a beautiful garden, and she called her home Bjerkebæk.

Lillehammer Kunstmuseum

This museum is one of the leading museums in the country in the field of visual arts, with significant works by Norwegian artists. It is situated in the town centre, a 10-minute-walk from the hotel.

In 2011 opened the roller ski track at Birkebeineren Ski Stadium. The track can be used for training and competitions during the summer, and is 6,3 km long. Please click here to view the rollerski track.

Experience the athmosphere of beautiful Aulestad! The Nobel laureate in literature Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson lived here with his family from 1875 until his death in 1910. In 1935, Aulestad became a museum.

Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, the man who wrote the national anthem, was an enthusiastic and committed soul. Today, visitors to Aulestad can experience the environment and surroundings from which he drew his inspiration. Karoline was married to Bjørnstjerne for over 50 years, and she created an urban European home in the very heart of rural Norway. 586 vertical metres in 10 minutes - The Gondola whisks you easily and comfortably to the top of the mountain where you are dropped off right at the trailheads for inviting hiking and biking terrain. The Gondola cabins can also transport baby carriages and wheelchairs. 

Zip line and jungle gymAt the top of the Gondola children can play in the zip line. Along with the jungle gym the area is about to become a good spot for small adventures. From the top of the Gondola there are also hiking trails where wanderers of all ages can find the right challenge. Some of the trails are prepared for baby carriage.

Hafjell Bike Park offer a wide range of different downhill trails ranging from beginner to expert level. The park is located 15 km north of Lillehammer. A bike shop with 120 rental bikes, lift passes, clothing, bikeparts and a workshop servicing all major brands. Book in advance and try to treat yourself with a unique experience.
